How the Mz Judged Documentary Came About |
I was originally going to film the show to make a cd for the contestants as per previous years but as the Mz Judged event unfolded, I saw something very authentic. The community was so very supportive of these men in terms of donations and moral support they were celebrities. And the camaraderie between the male contestants was like a sports team locker room but they didn’t know each other prior to this event. These guys really played the roles with no hold back. The sold out event was packed with over 400 thriving people! It was so much fun! There were times that I had to return the camera to its tripod because I was in stiches! (laugh, oh my gosh – the things I’ve seen)
I feel that people outside of Smithers needed to see this. They needed to see what a small town community could do about an issue that’s global. So, the creation of this documentary is to invite other communities to put on their own Mz Judged and raise awareness to help end violence against women.
Prince Rupert is having their fourth Mz Judged event this October 16h 2015 to a sold out show of 650 people. We’re including this in our final edit.
Time is of the essence. We would like to focus on Mz Judged full-time to launch the documentary later this winter to keep the momentum going. To do this we need your support now. Click here to sign up for updates and click the link below to help push the project along to completion. Thank you!
