The Documentary
|
The documentary will explore the issue of what it means to be a man, how we can end violence against women and what your town can do to make a difference. It depicts the entertainment value and threads the story of a couple small rural towns raising awareness and funds in a unique way that gets the whole community involved. We discover the other side of the male contestants, their motives and genuine character. It’s a fun, entertaining approach to addressing a somber social issue and has a proven power to raise awareness and engage men in the process.
Is it a rural phenomenon? Mz Judged founder Grainne Barthe and program manager at North Coast Transition Society shares the rural experience “if I hold a talk for violence against women we may get ten people show up but when we put this event on we get hundreds”. The documentary also explores the theme behind the fun and includes an interview with Dale Trimble MA, currently in private practice he is a pioneer in the anti-violence field of working with men and he's co-founder of BC’s first court ordered treatment program for men who assault their partners.
The documentary is intended for broadcast to raise far reaching awareness and continue to fund programs that address violence against women. It is our hope to inspire other towns to take on their own Mz Judged and provide local support to programs that end violence against women. To support the project click here! Donations are kindly accepted through Donor Box and will help us complete the documentary for Early 2017!
